Clemson Tigers: College Town - Clemson Roars! A Tiger's Journey by Lake Hartwell

This episode highlights the Tigers’ famed Hill Run. We secured special credentials to film players rubbing Howard’s Rock and sprinting down the hill, complemented by interviews with fans and tailgate scenes. By avoiding alcohol and focusing on consented participants, our footage captures the pure energy of Clemson game days.

Project Objectives

  • Film Clemson’s famous traditions. Connor O’Hara forwarded media‑access instructions from Clemson’s Jeff Davis requiring us to apply for credentials and limit our crew to three people. Key shots included the Hill Run (players running down “The Hill” rubbing Howard’s Rock) and fan rituals like the Tiger Rag.

  • Capture fan energy without alcohol. As in other towns, we had to avoid filming alcohol and ensure fans stated on camera that they consented to being filmed.

Project Scope

  • Pre‑production: We applied for media credentials via SportsSystems and reviewed Clemson’s ACC media policies. Shot lists emphasized stadium access, tailgate B‑roll and “vox pops” with fans shouting “Go Tigers.”

  • Production: Our DP team arrived early to position cameras at the base of The Hill. We captured slow‑motion footage of the team rubbing Howard’s Rock and sprinting down the hill, as well as crowd reactions. Tailgate footage focused on over‑25 fans and branded tents (no alcohol). Interviews included longtime Clemson boosters and ACC Network analyst Eric MacLain.

  • Post‑production: We handed over raw files via Frame.io, noting any release forms for featured fans. Lowkey Films integrated our footage into an episode that balanced tradition, fan fervor and Toyota branding.

Results

  • The Clemson episode showcased the excitement of a Tigers game day, from the Hill Run to downtown tailgates. Audiences responded positively to the adrenaline‑charged footage and the behind‑the‑scenes glimpse of Clemson rituals.

Lessons Learned

  1. Strict credentialing: Working within ACC’s media rules and Clemson’s Hill‑run restrictions required planning and coordination.

  2. Small crew agility: Limiting the crew to three allowed us to move quickly through crowded tailgates while still capturing high‑quality visuals.

  3. Vox pops enhance storytelling: On‑camera fan chants added authenticity and connected viewers to the game‑day experience.
