Cailin Pitt - Elevator Music

This reflective track by Cailin Pitt, from his album I SEE YOU IN EVERYTHING (released Aug 23 2024), uses the metaphor of two lovers riding separate elevators to explore miscommunication and emotional distance. Over a sparse, guitar‑led arrangement, Pitt’s vocals chronicle missed connections, serenades and an eventual elevator malfunction, leaving the couple in darkness and underscoring how unresolved tension lingers when feelings go unspoken.

Project Objectives

  • Visualize poor communication in a relationship: Our goal was to translate the song’s theme of unresolved tension into a cinematic story. Tyree Edwards developed a detailed storyboard in which a man and woman move through a building lobby and ride separate elevators, repeatedly missing meaningful connection.

  • Create a compelling narrative arc: The storyboard mapped eight scenes—from a lobby encounter through failed attempts to connect, forced entry, confrontation, and an elevator malfunction that leaves the couple in darkness, highlighting their ongoing disconnection.

  • Release a professional, polished video: We aimed to deliver a high‑quality production timed to support Cailin Pitt’s album I See You in Everything.

Project Scope

Pre‑Production

  • Concept & treatment: After your initial consultation, Tyree produced a written storyboard with eight scenes showing split‑screen perspectives, separate elevator rides, serenading attempts, and a dramatic final elevator breakdown. You praised the storyboard for capturing the essence of the song and asked to replace formal outfits with casual attire to lighten the mood, which Tyree agreed to.

  • Planning & logistics: Once you approved the revised concept, our team requested a deposit to kick‑start production and began securing locations and scheduling the shoot. We selected a multi‑story building with lobby and elevator access to match the storyboard’s settings.

Production

  • On‑location filming: We filmed in the building lobby and inside working elevators. The shoot used warm yet dark lighting to convey tension and included split‑screen shots of the lead actors approaching elevators separately. Scenes captured the male protagonist singing with his guitar in front of the elevator, forcing the doors open, and being left in darkness when the elevator stalls.

  • Crew & cast: Tyree Edwards directed; Pixel Clips handled editing; Ulices Aguiar served as director of photography; Howard Edwards was executive producer; Howard Edwards Jr. and Chad Robinson were co‑executive producers; Yadi Nieves shot behind‑the‑scenes footage; and Amalie Rosales starred as the female lead. Additional musicians included Joshua Baffour (drummer) and Anthony Cooper (bassist).

Post‑Production

  • Editing & revisions: Pixel Clips assembled the footage into an engaging narrative, employing split‑screen sequences and color grading to emphasize the couple’s separation. Tyree added a dark, moody palette and a final fade‑to‑black to mirror the unresolved tension in the song’s lyrics.

  • Client feedback & approval: After reviewing the rough cut with the updated wardrobe, you replied that everything was perfect and you were ready to move forward.

  • Release prep: The final video was mastered in HD and uploaded to YouTube on September 23 2024. The description credited the full team (director, editor, DP, producers, BTS, lead actress, drummer, bassist) and linked to the single.

Results

  • Narrative impact: The finished video effectively portrays the emotional distance between the characters. Split‑screen visuals, failed attempts to connect, and the elevator malfunction symbolically reinforce the theme of poor communication.

  • Professional production: High‑quality cinematography and editing delivered a polished final product. The credits and description underscore La Familia Entertainment’s comprehensive production capabilities.

  • Fan engagement: The video, released alongside Cailin Pitt’s album, has attracted over a thousand views and positive comments. Viewers praise its cinematic quality and the way it enhances the song.

Lessons Learned

  1. Storyboarding drives alignment: A detailed storyboard helped ensure that the final video matched the song’s themes and the artist’s vision.

  2. Costume choices influence tone: Switching from formal to casual attire, at your request, lightened the mood without altering the story.

  3. Communication & deposits matter: Requesting a deposit and sharing clear pre‑production plans kept the project on schedule and ensured everyone was committed.

  4. Symbolism enhances storytelling: Using the elevator as a metaphor for disconnection and ending with a malfunction left a lasting impression on viewers.
